More than 100 entries were submitted for the contest, which was organized by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Award recipients include Tsukuba City Board of Education, Hokkaido High School Math ICT Study Group, Tottori Prefecture Lifelong Learning Center, Miyazaki City ICT Education Center and Gifu City Education Institute. It has also provided various SMART products for the award ceremonies and demonstrations, including Rear Projection SMART Board and SMART Board for Flat-Panel Displays interactive whiteboards.
SMART Board interactive whiteboards are used in more than 100,000 classrooms worldwide and are increasingly used by teachers in Japan to improve student outcomes. Users can access any computer application or multimedia platform including the Internet and CD-ROMs, simply by touching the large screen.
Additionally, users can write over applications in digital ink and then edit, save, print or post their notes to a website for future reference. Feature-rich software and intuitive functionality make the SMART Board interactive whiteboard the number one choice of educators in more than 65 countries.
“Educational institutions all over the world recognize the value of using technology products in the classroom,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s president and co-CEO. “Through this sponsorship, teachers receive SMART Board interactive whiteboards, allowing them to easily incorporate multimedia materials into the curriculum.”
